For those who are not aware at this point for whatever reason, I consider myself a fan of the Skylanders series. That is to say I don't consider them perfect by any means of the word, but, I think they have a certain charm to them. I like the characters and the environments, I've been playing the games since Spyro's Adventures, and hell yeah I'm hyped for Imaginators and the Netflix series.

But, when Spyro's Adventure was first revealed, most fans of the classic Spyro the Dragon series were appauled, mainly because their childhood was ruined, it was different than the Spyro they remember, and Spyro's face looked like he got hit by a truck or something. And... Okay, that's fair, to be honest. I mean, most fanbases act that way whenever something they love is suddenly different. I'm sure over time these people will either grow to accept it or simply forget it even exists.
BOY WAS I WRONG ON THAT NOTION.

Five games later, people were still complaining about their childhood being ruined and Spyro's face tuck. And while it did die down over the years as Skylanders became more of a franchise, there were still people who were pretty vocal about it. And some people it seems like they only bought the games because of Spyro in the first place, and immediately lost interest in the series once he didn't get a figure associated with him in Trap Team, Superchargers, and most likely in Imaginators, even though Spyro is still compatible with these games and is still considered to be a main character in other Skylanders-related media such as the comics, novels, and upcoming TV show.

Then, history repeated itself at this year's E3 when at the end of the Sony conference, they announced Crash Bandicoot, who was thought to be a dead IP, was actually coming back with his first three games getting HD remakes. Which isn't much, but it's better than nothing, and the Crash fans were pleased with it.
...And then they announced Crash would also be guest starring in Imaginators and they immediately forgot about that little detail.

Now, just because Crash is featured in this game to test the waters to see if people still care about him (which they obviously do, granted), suddenly Crash is a lost cause, and people once again started complaining about how Activision is the devil incarnate and how they're childhood is murdered and stuff like that. Even though Crash's design isn't really all that different, and his gameplay appears to be nothing but a love letter to his old-school fans. And also the fact that he's mainly just a guest star to promote his upcoming remakes and apparently isn't canon to Skylanders like Spyro is.

I know where a lot of people probably think this is going, but let me just say this: If you don't particularly like Skylanders, then I don't care, more power to you. We're all entitled to our own opinions. And I'd like to think we're also entitled to an opinion of someone else's opinion. In which case if the only reason you even remotely dislike the series simply because of "what Activision has done to Spyro and Crash", then THAT is where I have an issue.

Most of these people complain about this just because their childhoods are ruined, which completely ignores the fact that Skylanders is going to be a part of the childhoods for many of the current generation, and that including Spyro and Crash in these games could peak kid's interests in them and therefor get them interested in an older IP. But oh no, we shouldn't be thinking like that. Activision obviously just made this game for babies! THEY NEED TO CONSIDER MY CHILDHOOD, HOW DARE THIS COMPANY MAKING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS NOT CARE ABOUT MY FEELINGS!

Well, if it's a game for babies, then you should have no issue adjusting to it then. Because the mentality most of these "hardcore fans" have is just utterly childish. It'd be one thing if most of them at least played one of the games and decided they didn't like it, with Spyro and Crash's inclusions being one of the reasons, but that's not the case. They're not judging the games as games, they're just calling them cancerous or tumors because there's one thing they know about it that they don't like, which is what I like to call a Double I. Immature and Idiotic.

I decided I don't want to be that one guy who calls out people specifically, unless they do something really bad, but I decided I want to use this guy just as an example. He goes by Haedox, and maybe you've heard of him, maybe you haven't. And before you continue reading, I just want to let you know that I am NOT saying "read this and go attack the guy", again, I'm just using the three videos he made as an example. Those three videos in question being "Spyro: A Fate Worse Than Death", "Crash in Skylanders is Insulting", and "Why Skylanders is Terrible".

Now, if you couldn't tell by those titles, he obviously doesn't like Skylanders. And if you couldn't tell that by the third title alone... well then you may need a new pair of reading glasses or something. His argument as to why Skylanders is a bad series all basically boil down to "I don't like what they did to Spyro, I don't like what they did to Crash, they were my childhood, Activision can go suck a wiener, but I'm not gonna actually form my own opinion on the games as games because my innocence is ruined." He doesn't list any reasons as to why the games are bad from a gameplay perspective or even a technical perspective. Nope. Just childhood ruined, everything sucks. And I bring him up because he's one of the people who regards the series as a life-threatening illness.

Two of those videos of his have been posted on the DarkSpyro forums, one by another user and another by me before Crash was confirmed for Skylanders. Now, at the end of these videos, he asks people to comment their own opinions down below. And most people on the forums had the opinion that he was misinformed and that these videos of his in particular weren't worth paying attention to. Sure, some were more extreme, but hey, it's the internet, what can you expect. Apparently Haedox found out about this and just recently, in response, he actually made an account on DarkSpyro, and you wanna know what the first thing he posted was?

"I hate all of you."

Needless to say I'm expecting him to get blocked soon.

In conclusion, I don't have a problem with people complaining about Skylanders so long as they're making actual criticism and not just ranting mindlessly about how their childhoods have been trampled upon.

It's honestly just as stupid as complaining about say, them deciding to make Pikachu green in Sun and Moon... I mean yeah, it's definitely off-putting and they are messing with an iconic character... But does it really affect the quality of the overall product?

All right, now something to lighten the mood.

That should do it.

NEXT RANT: "It'z 4 Kidz!!!"

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that Haedox also sent a bunch of his followers to harass Eric Rogers, one of the guys behind the Netflix series, because... Spyro will be avenged, I guess...? Don't believe me? Just look at Eric's Twitter.
